Professor Jonathan Ives is a co-investigator of BRIDGES:BKY. Jon is Professor of Empirical Bioethics and deputy director of the Centre for Ethics in Medicine in Bristol Medical School. He initially trained in philosophy, and now works as an interdisciplinary bioethicist at the nexus of ethics and social science, with a particular focus on empirical bioethics methodology, on which he has published widely. He is currently working on two large projects as ethics lead: the ESPRC-funded TAS Functionality Node, and the surgical innovation workstream of the NIHR funded Bristol BRC; and he is co-deputy director of the Wellcome Trust-funded BABEL project. He has published on a wide range of topics, and is lead editor of Empirical Bioethics: Theoretical and Practical Perspectives (CUP). Jon has served on various clinical and research ethics committees, and chairs the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Health and Care Risk Group.
